Time to catch up

There is no way for me to cover everything I have missed in the last 9 months in one post, but I will try to give you a quick breakdown. I guess the biggest thing that happened was Gage breaking his ankle. Rob, Remi, and Gage went riding in Caineville last September for Labor Day weekend, and I got the call on Sunday morning that you never want to get as a mom. "Find me the nearest hospital, we have had an accident." Rob was calling from his cellphone from the highway headed toward Moab. As soon as he got cellphone service he called for me to locate the nearest hospital. Gage had ridden his motorcyle off of a cliff. The scariest thing was that Rob and Remi were watching from a distance and could see his fate, and then unable to warn him, watched him ride off the cliff. Rob quickly started his bike and headed to see the damage. He was very frightened about what he might find. We are grateful that Gage bailed off of his bike before impact on the ground, but unfortunately for his right ankle it took all of the impact. He broke his ankle in two separate areas, and completely crushed his hind foot. His ankle looked really messed up. We are glad Gage was in his full riding gear, we believe his riding boots saved him from a compound fracture. Rob ended up taking Gage to the hospital in Price, Utah, but they could only place him in a soft wrap and send him immediately to Primary Childrens for surgical repair. It was a terrible break and needed a childrens Orthopedic Surgeon. I met Rob at home after a very long drive from the accident. Gage would not take any pain medication and was not allowed to eat or drink because of the looming surgery that was ahead of him. Rob and I then transported Gage to Primary Children's for a 3 hours surgery and an overnight stay. They had to place three screws in the ankle and Gage was in for a long recovery. It was a hard road for all of us, since we had Gage at home bound to a wheelchair for 4 weeks, and we had London. After a week at home, I was able to take Gage back to school, but it was very difficult. I had to take Gage to and from school and he had to be in his wheelchair each day for safety. You see I am human and only have two arms, so we had to get creative since I had him and the baby. Most the time I would unload Gage into the wheelchair, put the backpack on me, and London would ride in Gage's lap. Day after Day it was the same routine, and got really strong from carrying Gage around the house, out to the car, and into the wheelchair. I certainly gained a new respect for those mom's out there that do wheelchair bound kids on a permanent basis. It is tough work, and I had some days where I was very worn out. There were so many people that helped of course, I have great family and friends. It is now April 17th, and last Monday the 11th Gage had his follow up surgery to get the hardware removed from the ankle. We are so pleased that he healed so nicely, the surgeon was very worried about full recovery because of the extent of injuries. They scoped the ankle during surgery and it has healed great! I know that our Heavenly Father really looked out for all of us and especially Gage. We were so lucky that it was just his ankle, it could have been so much worse. Gage was very sweet during this whole experience and more than once asked his father to give him priesthood blessings, they were beautiful, helpful, and brought much peace to a difficult situation. I know that he healed completely because of those blessings.
Remington is really growing up too fast! He is now 13 going on 30..ha ha. He has finally started to act like a teenager, and that is not always a bad thing. He is getting more responsible day by day, and he helps me out a ton with London. She really likes him and if I have to run a quick errand I feel like he can keep her for a short time. Remington is finally at the stage where what girls think matters, and he is a really good friend to girls too. I always tell him to be nice to the girls and it will pay off. He has a lot of great friends and as a mom I am grateful for their example. I guess the biggest thing for Remi this year was his performance in the school talent show. Remi and his two friends made up a really cool percussion piece and tried out for the school talent show, and they were chosen to perform. It was absolutely amazing! I knew Remington was talented, but he really made us proud. He has a fine ear for music, and it is a wonderful talent that we are so glad he has. Remington has also been spending a lot of extra time riding his motorcycle with friends and he has improved and is more confident in his riding. Savannah...Savannah.... Well what can I say about this beautiful young lady:) She continues to impress me everyday! I know I am partial and she is my first daughter. But I just love having a daughter. Just yesterday she had action shots for dance and we had so much fun. I took her to the studio and she had her hair and makeup professionally done and some really fun action shots. I couldn't stop looking at her all day. I realized something yesterday..she is growing up, and she is absolutely beautiful. I am in big trouble with that girl. I will have to chase off the boys. We have had so much fun in the last couple months watching Savannah prepare for her first dance solo. We decided to let her give it a try, and she has loved it. She is not one bit like me. She doesn't even get nervous when she has to perform alone in front of a large crowd. It took a lot of practice for me to gain the confidence I needed to do that. She has practiced very hard and has done so well! She has one more competition next week that we are excited to watch. Each performance she gets better and better. She will be trying out for the next level of dance team at the end of May. Her dance teachers think that she is totally ready. She loves to go to dance, and it seems like all of her spare time is spent making up new dances and playing with her favorite friend Kaylee. Savannah does excellent in school and is very helpful around the house. She loves for me to make a list of chores and how much money she can make. You won't believe this but she finally likes cute clothes, shopping, and wearing cute bows in her hair. It took nine years to get there, but it happened!
Our little Miss London, boy do we all love her. We have had so much fun watching her grow up. I cannot believe it has been a year. London started taking steps about a week before she turned 11 months, and really starting cruising at a year old. She loves to get into everything, especially what she is not supposed to. She has plenty of toys, but she wants to play with shoes, dishes, lotion bottles, and magazines. She will get the lotion bottles out of her basket in her room and carry them around the house under her arm like a football. Her favorite word is "Hi", it means Hi, bye, and yes. Whenever the door opens or the phone rings she says "hi". She has just started to shake her head for "no, no" and she still loves to dance to music. London pulls the funniest faces and is very dramatic. She loves to look out the window in her room and look for the doggies. She can always hear the neighbors dog bark and gets excited. London loves to play outside and gets upset when it is time to go inside. I am hoping now that the weather seems to be warming, I can take her out more often, and maybe even put her in the jogging stroller so I can get some exercise.
Rob is staying busy with work and works so hard to provide for us. We finally finished up our final law suit for RDM Construction and are so grateful to be done with that trial. I think we have both learned so much in the past three years. You decide who your real friends are and what is most important in life. Rob was lucky enough to land a job in Hawaii this year so we were able to make a family trip out of it(minus London, she stayed home). We definitely were in need of a little get away. It was nice to visit there again and take the kids to see all of the sites on Oahu. We stayed at a beautiful resort, and spent a lot of time by the pool and at the beach. Rob is in the young mens in our ward once again. He was called as the venture scout leader and advisor for the priests. He is so good at it, and is always very good at fulfilling his calling. Rob is really enjoying being a daddy to London, he has enjoyed her so much. We are both much more patient parents in our older age. He loves to just sit and watch her play. She can do nothing wrong in his eyes:)
As for me, it is the same old routine most days. The joys of being a mother, some days I am not so sure, and other days it is wonderful. Each day I try to do my best, and some days I say "Tomorrow I will try again". I am far from perfect and continue to learn new things everyday. I guess my biggest complaint would be, ummm, here it comes, HOMEWORK! I get so tired of spending my evenings doing hours of homework yuck! Wish my kids could just get the education they need why they were at school so I could just enjoy my time with them at home. I know Gage has a learning disability, but really 2 hours a night. Okay I am done complaining. Time to be positive. I am so very blessed with an awesome husband that will do anything for me and my kids, and 4 healthy happy children that are trying there best, and have amazing talents! I live in a free country, in a great neighborhood, in a beautiful home that keeps me and my family warm and safe. My husband provides for me and my family so I can stay home and take care of my children, totally a blessing. Although somedays I would like to get out of here..HA HA. That is another blessing, I am temporally blessed so that I can go out on occasion and buy a few nice things for my family, and have a nice lunch. I have a testimony of the true church, and I love my savior and am grateful for his sacrifice so I can experience these things. I know because I am doing my best to follow him that I have these blessings. There are so many others out there that are struggling far more than me, so I try to remember how lucky I am. So today only happy thoughts for me and to all of you, until I find a minute to post again. I hope it will be sooner than 9 months from now. Loves to all!
